Build and Destroy has a story and history of its own. Created on my own heavily beaten-up skateboard, the board was originally part of my first skateboard series, made in collaboration with Element Skateboards in 2016. The worn original markings can still be seen, buried and exposed beneath new layers of acrylic paint.
The new artwork radiates outwards in pulses, echoing the repeated movement and vibration of skating. The board itself has gone through its own cycle — built, ridden, worn down and built over again. A skateboard with a decade of history, given a new life as a true one-off original.
“Create & Annoy” is a collision of skateboarding’s raw energy and art’s rebellious spirit, co-curated by legendary pool rider Steve “Salba” Alba and artist D*Face. Bringing together original artworks, installations, photography, and skate culture ephemera, the exhibition celebrates the shared DNA of two movements built on defiance, DIY ingenuity, and a refusal to play by the rules.
